At P Tune Studio, we’ve always had a soft spot for remixes.
Let’s be real—modern music wouldn’t be what it is today without the creativity of the legends who came before us. Every artist, every song, every album from the past to the present shapes the future of music. The tracks we vibe to today often carry inspiration from earlier creators.
So, what exactly is a remix?
A remix is basically a re-imagined version of an existing track.
You take the same song but switch up the genre, tempo, rhythm, or overall mood to create something fresh while keeping the heart of the original.
Can I distribute remixes through P Tune Studio?
Yes — you can.
But you must already have:
-
The Master Recording Licence, and
-
Clear, express permission from the original artist
A remix isn’t the same as a cover.
Since it’s built from the original recording, you cannot clear it with a mechanical licence alone.
What licences do I need for a remix?
It depends on what elements of the original track you’re using.
1) Master Recording Licence
(Usually held by the artist or record label)
Required if your remix uses the instrumental or sound recording from the original track.
2) Song Copyright Licence
(Usually held by the publisher)
Required if your remix uses lyrics or vocals from the original track.
👉 If your remix uses both vocals and instrumental elements, you need both licences.
Can P Tune Studio provide these licences for me?
Not yet.
We’ll offer remix licensing support in the future through dedicated publishing deals, but this feature isn’t available at the moment.
Can my remix include the original stems?
Only if your remix is official, meaning:
-
You have the proper master licence, and
-
Permission to use the stems from the original rights holder.
Are there any extra fees for distributing remixes with P Tune Studio?
Nope.
There are no additional charges — this is already included in our agreements.
